Organic vegetable production weed control strategies: Integrating precision cultivation, weed biology, and OMRI herbicide — John Grande, Rutgers New Jersey Agricultural Experiment Station, Snyder Research & Extension Farm, Pittstown NJ

Building on previous SARE work, the project manager will train agricultural educators in a hands-on, integrated approach to weed dynamics and a systems approach to weed control that will include cultivating, spray, tillage, and specialized farm equipment. The training will also call on experienced farmers as teachers. As a result, 40 agricultural educators will complete the training and in turn engage 140 farmers, who will adopt new technologies as part of their systems approach to weed management.
